Thanks. Hope. Light.

“The ship of my life may or may not be sailing on calm and amiable seas.  The challenging days of my existence may or may not be bright and promising.  Stormy or sunny days, glorious or lonely nights, I maintain an attitude of gratitude. If I insist on being pessimistic, there is always tomorrow.  Today I am blessed.”

--Maya Angelou

In this season of gratitude, I am most THANKFUL for you.

This year has been unlike any other.  In addition to the pandemic, other plagues have raged including racism, hate, violence, and lack of civility. Even with these seemingly unsurmountable challenges, I still have hope.

Hope comes from watching innovation in action. Theaters and artists across the country have figured out how to share their stories and connect with their communities in exciting new ways. We need that connection today more than ever.

One example is Mat and Savanna Shaw.  This father/daughter duo, and Utah natives, shared their message of HOPE with the world during the darkest days of quarantine.  Their spontaneous duet has brought smiles to millions.  I can’t wait to hear their concert this weekend; it’s what the world needs now.

I also look forward to an evening of LIGHT.  This year we have again partnered with Thanksgiving Point to offer an early-access Autism event for Utah families. Luminaria features sights, smells, and sounds of the season, adjusted for our special guests.

Ours will be a quiet Thanksgiving at home.  But our hearts will be full.  Here, we will count our blessings and YOU will be at the top of the list.

With thanksgiving,

Megan Ann Rasmussen
