A NOTE FROM MEGAN ANN

The New York Latter-day Saint Professional Association gave its annual visionary leadership awards to Revered A. R. Bernard and NFL Kansas City Chiefs Coach, Andy Reid.

What’s important to me about this event is the recognition we share with people who are making an impact in the community. Speaking of the impact of Reverand A.R. Bernard, Elder David L. Buckner shared,

“Rev. Bernard has caracterized his pattern of answering calls to seve, calls to bless, calls to lead with two simple words: ‘I’m here’…when asked to serve his city and state…when asked to serve and build bridges with those of different background and beliefs…he willingly and welcomingly extends a hand of friendship…graciously inviting the Church to partner with him in efforst to feed the hungry and help lift communities.”

Accepting his award and sharin gexamples of overcoming challenges in the football world, Any Reid shared,

“I think it is tremendous when people come together with one plan in mind—and that’s to make others better. And whatever situation you’re in, we’re going to be there to help you and support you.”

Previous honorees of the leadership award include New York Archibishop Cardinal Timothy Dolan, former New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera, Rabbi Joseph Potasnik and former United States Senator Joseph Lieberman.
