A NOTE FROM MEGAN ANN

While crowded in an extended-wheel-base 10 passenger conversion van, my seven siblings and I rocked out to Neil Diamond music on summer road trips across the United States. My Dad would sing “America” “Forever in Blue Jeans” and, of course, “Sweet Caroline” while pounding the beat on the steering wheel or dashboard.

My investment in A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical is a tribute to my father; his love of music and the support he and my mother have given me throughout my theater career. Now, like me and my siblings, my children know every word to Neil Diamond’s songs and we sing, full voice, in car rides together. It’s a full circle, multigenerational experience.

In addition, learning about how Neil Diamond overcame so much in his life and still found the courage to sing “I Am, I Said” is a powerful reminder of redemption, forgiveness and the ability to overcome obstacles. It’s a message we all need.
