Age Recommendations for Current Broadway Shows

I’m often asked if a Broadway show would be appropriate for someone’s child or family.  No one can accurately tell you if a Broadway show would be a good fit for your child or family. Every family is different. Each young person is unique; each household has their own ideas of what is fun, appropriate, thought provoking, and entertaining.

Your sensitivities may not be mine, and heavens knows I’m more sensitive than most to vulgar language, violence, and some subject matter.

All that said, it’s helpful to know the age recommendations for Broadway shows as provided by the shows themselves.  Here are what the current shows on Broadway (week ending 11/27/22) suggest for age recommendations;

These age recommendations are a guide provided by the individual shows.  If you still have questions about whether a Broadway show is the right fit for your child,  I recommend checking the individual websites of each show.  They usually have a FAQ section and will list any content advisory such as sexually suggestive themes, occasional strong language and production elements used like fog, haze, strobe effect, non-firing replica firearms, gunshot sound effects, etc. that can be triggering. Please find the individual shows through the hyperlink in their titles above.
