The Griswold’s Broadway Vacation

I didn’t grow up watching the Griswolds. Actually, it was probably banned in our house. So why be involved with Griswald’s Broadway Vacation? Once again, in the end it is all about family. 

This new musical is an endearing story of Clark and Ellen Griswold as they find family–while looking for adventure–on Broadway. Yes, there are laugh-out-loud moments of comedy and chaos that deliver with catchy tunes.

This Broadway-bound new musical features a concept album with Broadway stars including Kerry Butler, Santino Fontana, Alan Green, Andy Grotelueschen, Nathan Levy, Livvy Marcus (Spells of the Sea!) and Jen Cody.

I’ve been grateful to watch this show develop first hand from rehearsals, to an out-of-town production at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre to pre-Broadway workshops.  Part of my draw to this show is that it is intrinsically connected to my Broadway education in developing new works.
