A NOTE FROM MEGAN ANN

Magic. Family. Hope. Written by two college roommates during the pandemic it strikes the fragile balance of humor and grief in a way like nothing else I know. Its pulsing folk-like beat has flavors of big Disney music and stanza after stanza of puns and alliteration.

It’s quirky. It’s an epic adventure. It dives head first into family and found-family. It’s an inspiration for how we overcome challenges, and a map to show us the way.

My favorite part of performing Spells of the Sea at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC was watching one father/daughter duo come to the show three times! The daughter loved the music, the princess, the mermaid, and the pirates. The father loved the tender moments between the father and daughter.

This is the first show I’ve lead produced. It encapsulates my nearly three decades of work in the Theater for Young Audiences world with my emerging Broadway career.
